HAWAIIAN FISHING CANOE with hand painted sail

USD 2,990.00

It is more than a canoe model; it is a work of art. The colors you see on that sail are not printed, nor are those stickers applied to the sail. Each of the Polynesian designs has been meticulously hand-painted over many hours using very fine Japanese fine liner pens, ensuring the highest level of detail and precision. All 4 designs are unique to the sail of this canoe, making it a truly one-of-a-kind piece. There is the hibiscus flower, symbolizing joy and beauty, the ulu, the Polynesian staple food, taro leaves , the sacred plant in Hawaiian culture, and a Hawaiian Honu as the center piece.

While Polynesian designs have long adorned the sails of contemporary voyaging canoes, this model marks a new era of innovation. It is the first time these iconic designs have been applied to models, showcasing a pioneering spirit and a unique approach to canoe design.

One of the key features that adds value to this canoe is the use of scarce curly Koa wood. This is the very wood that was used to construct ancient Hawaiian outriggers, a testament to the authenticity and high-quality of this item.

The model is long by 18 inches, with a beam of 10 inches and with a height of 20 inches when resting on its stand.

THE MODEL IS READY TO BE SHIPPED with the signature stand as seen in the illustration with a bronze plaque bearing the model's name and its artist. The canoe is shipped in a wooden crate , free shipping USA
